Lived Experience of Poverty Fund

Our Bridging Teams work because people with lived experience of poverty help to lead the way. They act as guides, storytellers, and truth-tellers, helping the group bridge the gap between poverty and privilege with honesty and courage.

To honour the expertise of participants with lived experience of poverty and ensure full participation, we provide financial support:

  • $50 gift card for each week of participation in a Bridging Team
  • $25/hour for those serving as a co-facilitator

For many participants living in poverty, this support helps “top up” limited income, moving closer toward a stable, livable income.

100% of donations to the Lived Experience of Poverty Fund directly support under-resourced participants in Bedford House programs. Please note that Bedford House is a registered non-profit (not a registered charity), and donations are not eligible for charitable tax receipts.

How to Donate

Donate by Cheque. Make your cheque out to “Bedford House” and be sure to add “Lived Experience of Poverty Fund” in the memo line. This will ensure 100% of your donation will be directed to this important fund.  Our goal is to support the Lived Experience of Poverty Fund with $2,000 each month.

Cheques can be mailed to:
Bedford House
171A Rink St, Suite 127
Peterborough, ON K9J 2J6

This enables support to flow directly to participants living in poverty who are committed, alongside Bedford House, to community building in divided times.

We appreciate any donation to help us reach this goal.
